Giant black tarantula, the largest I've ever seen. It came out at the urging of my guide, who teased a small twig into the entrance of its burrow. When it realized there was no food, it quickly went back inside to get out of the rain. Wherever there are tarantulas, there are tarantula hawk wasps, and we also saw one commensurate with this spider's size -- the largest wasp I've seen. Unfortunately, it flew away before I could get a photo.
Katydid. I remember seeing these around the house when I was a child, but not anymore.
